NURSE EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Delta Chi Chapter-At-Large is seeking nominations for chapter Nurse Excellence Awards. The awards will be granted to nurses who are members of Delta Chi and meet the criteria listed below. Each recipient will receive an award certificate accompanied by a honorium. Awardees will be honored at the Spring Reception, Induction and Awards Ceremony on April 24, 2008.

To nominate an individual for one of these awards, please send a letter describing how this person meets the award criteria. Also be sure to include in the letter how to contact the winner. Letters may be sent electronically or by mail to: Susan Fleming sefleming@wsu.edu Deadline for nominations is Febuary 29, 2008

Excellence in Nursing Practice:

  • Demonstrates breadth of knowledge in clinical practice
  • Possesses clinical expertise
  • Develops creative approaches to practice that contributes to quality care
  • Serves as an inspirational mentor or preceptor for peer’s practice
  • Enhances the image of nursing through practice
  • Participates in community affairs, legislative or organizational efforts that affect nursing practice

Excellence in Nursing Management:

  • Leadership in nursing through creative approaches
  • Demonstrates breadth of knowledge in nursing administration or management
  • Possesses management expertise
  • Participates in the development of nursing leaders
  • Creates an environment that enhances the image of nursing
  • Demonstrates a leadership role in fostering professional standards

Excellence in Nursing Education:

  • Demonstrates excellence in teaching
  • Impacts the professional practice of nursing and the public’s image of nursing through excellence in teaching
  • Demonstrates creative activity in nursing education
  • Possesses expertise in nursing education
  • Creates and environment that enhances learning

Excellence in Nursing Research:

  • Conducts research in nursing
  • Communicates nursing research findings
  • Encourages research activities within Sigma Theta Tau, nursing or public
  • Presents scholarly work related to nursing practice, theory, or research

Excellence in Community Service:

  • Promotes the image of nursing through community service activities
  • Creates and environment that encourages professionals to become involved in the community
  • Promotes the health and well being of the community
  • Recognized by nursing or community leaders as making significant contribution to the community
