The Laura C. Dustan Research Awards are designed to “encourage
research by qualified nurses and/or nursing students who are learning
to conduct research to advance knowledge in the area of nursing
science.” (International Guidelines for Chapter Research Grants)
Delta Chi Chapter-at-Large strongly encourages student members to
apply.
Research awards
for a maximum of $500 each/$1500 total for all awards will be awarded
April 2008
Selection
criteria include that the applicant:
- Is a current
member of Delta Chi Chapter-at-Large.
- Has a BSN
or higher degree in Nursing or is a nursing student enrolled in
a higher degree program in nursing.
- Demonstrates
commitment to nursing as a career.
Application
materials must include:
- Title and
Abstract 2 copies
- Proposal,
Appendixes and Budget 2 copies
- Chapter Research
Grant Application Form 1 copy for file
- Chapter Research
Grant Agreement Form 1 copy for file
Applicant
Information Form describing:
- previous
Research, Travel or Scholarship or Excellence Awards from the
- Delta Chi
Chapter-at-Large
- specific
planned use for this funding, not “general budget”
- plans to
disseminate findings (e.g. WIN, STT poster, other)
- current
sources of funding for this and other research projects.

Faculty and Graduate Students:

• The preferred deadline to announce
intent is prior to 2.24.06
• Attach a copy of your abstract
or a brief memo describing purpose, research
question(s) and conceptual framework.

• Prepare a REX form http://www.ogrd.wsu.edu/forms.asp
• List Faculty name and Student
name on top line.
• Include Faculty signature
as PI and student signature as additional investigator.
• Obtain signatures from the
ICN Finance Office and ICN Research Office
• Submit Submit REX form and
Delta Chi application materials to OGRD prior to
application to Delta Chi
.
• These research awards are
considered External Funding.
• Funds may are for direct
costs only, NOT indirect F & A costs.
• Current IRB human subjects
training and approval is not required at time of application,
it must be completed prior
to data collection. Kathy will advise re: requirements
and timeline.
c. OGRD will review your request and send a letter to Kathy/Mary
with an account number for your request.
d. Submit the OGRD Letter and application materials to Mary Stucky.
e. Awards Committee members will review application materials
in March and notify recipients on or before
Luncheon.
f. If selected, funding is made payable to WSU and the account
number listed on the OGRD letter.
Gonzaga
University Faculty and Students:

and approval is required.

a. Documentation
of Human Subjects Training and Agency Research Protocols are
requested with your applications.

as soon thereafter as possible. The committee meets late March to
review applications.
